personally i wouldn't fit either in a unaccessable location
solder fitting every time if it's copper pipe.

thanks, i am just a bit worried that the pipe will have water in it so i might struggle to get a good soldered joint, and i also wasnt sure if the old part of the pipe might be 1/2 inch not 15mm. if you had to pick between compression and speedfit what would you go for? i think i can guess already

a dilemma i have. ended up correcting some work a plumber did on a water main, and i had to make a new joint. at the time the only fitting i had was a speedfit elbow which i used. that was 2 months ago and it is working fine. my intention was always to replace it with a compression, and i am about to put down a woodfloor above the main (the main runs in the void beneath a timber floor in the hallway) so i need to swap the speedfit for the compression this week. but the dilemma is, because the speedift is working fine should i bother messing with the main now or just leave it?
