Plumbing Forum > Hammering pipes

Hello,

My brother in law is experiencing loud banging noices from his heating pipes. They are microbore pipes and run through a stud wall. When the heating is on they make quite a racket. Also his boiler loses pressure sometimes. I've checked the PRV and other valves on the boiler and there are no signs of leaks anywhere.

Any help would be fantastic so I can keep the mother in law sweet!!!

Thanks

Pipes probably loose from clips or not clipped at all. Have you checked the rad valves - could be a minute leak.

boiler could be overheating due to faulty boiler stat the loss of pressure could be a result of high temp = high pressure then prv re seating when temp drops
