The Ecovacs Deebot N10 Plus (available at Amazon for $649.99) is a robot vacuum-and-mop hybrid that is designed for pet owners. This particular Ecovacs Deebot has multiple features that deal with odors and capture pet hair all while being a generally good floor cleaner, with a few caveats. For example, this robot can mop, but we found if you leave the mop attachment on, the N10 is liable to get caught on carpets and throw rugs. If you want a robot vacuum-mop hybrid that never gets caught on carpets, check out the iRobot j7+ Combo.

Occasionally gets stuck

The Ecovacs Deebot N10 Plus is a robot vacuum-mop hybrid with an auto-empty station. When it completes a cycle, the dust and debris from its bin get suctioned into self-sealing bags. The 2.5-liter disposable dust bag holds two months' worth of vacuum debris.

The N10 Plus also has Ecovacs’ Ozmo Mopping System—a detachable dust mop fed by a 240-milliliter water tank.

This Ecovacs Deebot vacuum can handle pet hair.

When we test a robot vacuum, we put it on our obstacle course. The course contains simulated furniture legs, shelves, and different types of flooring. On the N10’s best runs, it picked up 10 grams of debris.

To put that in perspective, those are similar numbers to iRobot j7+, our top-performing robot vacuum.

The N10 climbed over any threshold that was up to two-thirds of an inch tall, and was able to clean under any shelf that was taller than four inches.

The Ecovacs Deebot N10 Plus has kept up with the times. It has a lot of the features its high-end competitors have.

For example, this robot vacuum cleaner can be self-empty. When it’s done with a cleaning cycle, it returns to its dock and a secondary vacuum suction out all the dirt and dust in the bin and places it in a self-sealing and antibacterial bag.

The bag can hold up to two months of dust. When it comes time to empty you don’t need to see, touch, or smell anything unpleasant.

In addition to self-emptying, the N10 has a comprehensive app. You can start, stop, and direct the robot to specific areas via the Ecovacs Home App. You can also sync your N10 with Alexa or Google Home for voice control.

People purchase robot vacuums for a variety of reasons. However, one of the most common ones is to help deal with pet hair. Ecovacs advertises the Deebot N10 as ideal for pet owners, so we decided to put that claim to the test.

The first test we did involved making the N10 clean up a carpet covered in dog hair. This robot vacuum comes with a brush head that resists hair tangles. Test results show it worked well against embedded hair clumps.

The second reason the N10 is good for pet owners is odor control. It has multiple layers of air filtration. The first is in the unit itself. The E11 filter not only traps dust particles down to 300 microns, but it’s also treated with two different antibacterial agents.

On top of all that, the self-sealing bag in the dock also has four layers of filtration to cut down on odors.

When we first set up the Ecovacs Deebot N10 Plus, we attached the mop pad before setting it to vacuum our obstacle course. Turns out that was a bad idea.

The mop pad caused the robot to get stuck multiple times. It got caught on carpet edges and thresholds. In the end, we had to remove it to get it to finish a single cleaning cycle.

The dock for this Ecovacs Deebot vacuum is very tall, so make sure you've got enough room for it.

You also need to think about storage. The dock is quite tall, and you might have some trouble finding a place for it.

This is an issue with many self-emptying vacuums, but more and more companies are making their docks horizontal rather than vertical, like the Greenworks GRV-5011.

It’s not a great experience when an automated floor cleaner requires you to do extra work.

We tested the N10’s mopping ability on linoleum and laminate hardwood floors. The results were middling.

It cleans up adhered-on dust fine, but anything more than that and you’re going to have to do it yourself. We’ve seen similar results from cheaper models like the Eufy G30.

However, with an entry-level model like the G30, you’re going to get a much more rudimentary navigation system.

Going through all the Ecovacs Deebot N10 Plus reviews online, the largest repository was on Amazon. On that site, the N10 is scoring 4.3 stars out of five with 342 ratings.

Consumers talk about how they like the cleaning power and the convenience of the self-empty feature. However, people who were unhappy about the product cite poor battery life and issues with the unit finding the dock.

We did not experience issues with the battery. But we know that the battery is one of the most common parts of a robot vacuum to fail.

If you’re constantly dealing with tumbleweeds made of pet hair in your home, the Ecovacs Deebot N10 Plus is worth checking out. It’s good at vacuuming. And while it’s vacuuming, it has multiple methods of filtration and odor control.

There are a few caveats. If you want the best clean, especially if you have carpets, the rubberized deep clean is sold separately. The mopping feature is okay, but can actively get in the way if you have throw rugs.

Overall, we think the N10 Plus is a good value. However, if you’re interested in all the bells and whistles, we’d suggest upgrading to the Ecovacs X1 Omni or the iRobot j7+ Combo.

The Ecovacs Deebot N10 Plus is a good vacuum for pet hair and odor control, with a comprehensive app.
