I've noticed something odd about the downlights in my lounge and was hoping someone might be able to shed some light on the subject. I have 6 downlights in the room which were obviously all installed at the same time and identical brand new bulbs were installed all at the same time. However they have been running out at different times. In fact a cuople of them ran out after just a couple of months whilst some others are still going strong after almost a year. I don't understand why this would happen. Does anybody else?

These lamps are prone to early failure which can be accelerated by the fitting having inadequate ventilation, make sure that there is the manufacturer's recommended air gap around these fittings
