The Building Experience DIY Forum > gravel for garden
Hi Doris,
Whilst it does sound a lot the cost of gravel and stone does vary considerably (from about £50 per jumbo (1 tonne) bag to over £200) so it does depend on your colour choice and quality of gravel. Also I question whether 4 bags is not too much for 20m2 unless its a driveway I would say 75mm depth is enough...I would say 3 bags max to achieve this ... you should also be able to get 2nd and third bags cheaper than first if its delivered at the same time. Try somewhere like Online Aggregates - 3 tonne of 20mm cotswold buff - £188 delivered ( might depend on postcode).

you prob wont come back for this doris, but builders merchants have big scope to adjust their prices to individual customers. they will knock 10-15% if you ask nicely and will go to 40% or more on big orders with regular customers.

Hi guys,
i need to put some gravel or stone down in my back garden. i have about 20m sq to cover so i need to get a lot. i reckon i need four of those big bags but ridgeons have quoted me 110 per bag. this seems really expensive. it was white stone about half inch each peice. am i being ripped off here?
