The Building Experience DIY Forum > Rust coming through rendering
this is the render bead rusting. to prevent use stainless steel in the future. for the current problem try an oil based stabilising solution that you can use on the whole wall, or a bit of oil based paint on the rust before you paint the wall with your usual masonry paint
Something from the zinsser range such as coverstain, just check its ok for exterior (i think it is). If i was you i`d coat all the corners where the beading has been used as its bound to come through in other places sooner or later. You can then go straight overt he top with your masonary paint.
Every bit of stainless steel I've ever used always rusted, including my fork and knife. Probably best to use brass or copper. It may also be bits off a steel brush If that was used to prepare the surface before the render was applied.
a fair point KE but where is the common plasterer going to get copper or brass render beads from... do they even exist?

Hello,
I'm looking for some advice. I have rendering on the front of my house. The rendering looks fine apart from some slight rust coming through the paint on one corner. What should I do?
Thanks very much.
