The Building Experience DIY Forum > Solvent-free paint stripper?
Hi again,
To anyone who was having the same trouble as I was yesterday, I have a suggestion!
Thanks for the tip !
Fortunately after a trawl around the web yesterday we found another product, Biostrip.
Gave a go on two of the upstairs rooms yesterday, and seems brilliant. No smells, and for once no rashes!
Takes the paint of brilliantly. Better than the old stuff, as far as we can tell. Was doubtful at first, but for what its worth, would thoroughly recommend it : www.biostrip.co.uk
Thanks again for the tip!
Chris.

Thanks for the info. My wife is the decorator in our house and she likes to be eco friendly and an avid recycler. She will be very pleased to know about this product

I bought Bio Strip for some interior work a few months ago and was not impressed by its safety data information. It claims to be safe but yet it contains Benzyl Alcohol!!!! How can this be safe?
I didnt use it as it was too risky in a customers house with children and pets there, and sent it back.
There are safer ones on the market and a company called Eco Solutions make a product called Home Strip which is much safer and works just as well as anything else I have used in the past. I got it from Toolstation.

Hi everyone,
Long time reader of the forums and, as the name suggests, not exactly a pro when it comes to DIY.
Can anyone help me with a problem?
We're about to redecorate our entire house. Although my DIY experience is limited, when undertaking this job in the past, I've found myself to be quite severely allergic to the solvents in paint strippers.
I've also been reading a lot about DCM lately, with next year's ban, and as I like to consider myself as being pretty "eco friendly", was wondering if there's anything out there that doesn't contain DCM's?
Is there a good, reliable alternative to solvent-based paint strippers on the market?
Any help you can offer would be great!
Thanks,
Chris.
