I am painting my ceiling with a water based ceiling paint and it is pealing off as I paint. This ceiling hasnt been painted for at least 25 years. Is it aa good idea to use a sealent to stop this or even oil based paint, in stead of the water based paint. Would appreciate your knowledge thanks. Janet

Do you know what the existing paint on the ceiling is? is it shiny? what prep did you do? what are you trying to paint on? ie brand and finish? how old is the house? application method? what room is the ceiling in?
