As a floor tile it can be used for exteriors and interiors and has become increasingly popular on bathroom floors. It has a number of features which make it suitable for this purpose;

Strength and durability - This makes it resiliant to heavy foot trafic which bathrooms experience.

Low water absorbtion/permeability - When properly sealed Brazilian Black Slate can handle almost any amount of water.

Non slip - Paticularly important in a bathroom environment.

But arguably it's greatst feature which makes it so popular with those looking for a high end finish in their bathroom is it's beauty;

Aesthetic qualities - As a natural stone, no two tiles are the same. Slate has a wealth of colours and formations thus creating a unique bathroom floor. Using enhancer and sealers, the slates can be brought alive, creating a stunning finish.

The Brailian Black Slate Bathromm takes things a step further tiling all the walls in the stone from floor to ceiling, as well as the floor. Then the slate is highlighted by contrasting it with a stunning white bathroom suite and chrome appliances.

There are possible negatives to consider before opting for this design;

Price - Tiling an entire bathroom is an expensive option. But slate is a reasonably priced tile and does give a top end , luxury finish.

Darkness - With the blackish/grey tiles on all walls and floors it could result in a dark room and is perhaps best avoided in a small room. However this can be overcome by intelligent use of lighting and mirrors. In The Building Experience slate bathroom we have used both natural and artificial light, with a large window and six downlights. Plus we have created the illusion of more space using a large mirror and a clear glass shower screen.

I'm sure you'll agree the end result is spectacular.
