what about retiling over the old tiles with something more trendy?

Ideally you would want to retile, as there may be issues if you just cover the existing tiles.

Hi I was wondering if this is a really bad idea...
I want to update my kitchen and was thinking of covering the tiles with splashbacks, probably a plastic of some kind. The point is as I am not particularly proficient in DIY/ Building Iso was wondering if you can just cover over the tiles with these, or would that cause problems? I'm guessing you just drill them into the tiles?
I suppose this may look terrible so if anyone has any advice on this that would be great, thanks Louisa.
