Decorating Forum > Blistered, peeling paint in Kitchen

Hello,

Theres an area of wall in my kitchen where the paint has blistered and is peeling. Its been like that for a few years and has deriorated over time. The room hasnt been decorated for about 10 years. The area of wall is just next to the ovens, so i thought perhaps the heat was causing it? Im going to redecorate soon but dont want this to happen again so thought i should get to the bottom of it first.

Thanks a lot, Sid

take some of the flakey stuff off and look at the plaster below. if it is very dark pink, with discolouration or mould or evidence of salts around it then it is damp for sure. is the plaster crumbling itself?
