New Zealand is on their white-ball tour to England, which kicked off on Wednesday with a first T20I game in Chester-le-Street. This was the first of the four-match T20I series, which the hosts won comprehensively by seven wickets.

The World T20 champions didn’t allow the Black Caps to settle with bat or ball and thrashed them in the first game. It started with English team captain Jos Buttler winning the toss and electing to bat first. Luke Wood and Brydon Carse were too good for the Kiwi batters.

Both bowlers took three wickets each, and New Zealand only managed a total of 139/9 in the 20 overs. Spinners also came into play and picked up one wicket each. It was a brilliant bowling display for the English team. Then the batting made it complete.

Chasing 140 runs to win, the English batters started playing their shots from the first over and chased down the target in just 14 overs. They ended up at 143/3 to win the game by seven wickets. Dawid Malan made 54 off 42, while Harry Brook scored an unbeaten 43 off 27 balls to seal the victory.

Overall, it was a complete performance from the team. But there was a moment when Jos Buttler made a blunder. It happened in the 16th over of the innings, but Jos Buttler went upstairs for a review, which is considered the most bizarre review ever taken in history.

It was the third ball of the 16th over from Livingstone. He bowled a full delivery, and Glenn Phillips, who was at the crease, decided to defend the ball. The ball hit the toe end of the bat. However, Buttler felt that it missed the bat and hit the pads, and he took the review.

But the replay also suggested that it hit the bat directly and that the batter’s shoe was not anywhere near it. As soon as the replay was shown on the big screen, Buttler gave an embarrassing smile. Meanwhile, England began their preparation well with a win. Now they will face New Zealand in the second game in Manchester on Friday.
